The shoot was SICK!! We filmed in a ghost town called Boron all weekend. Boron is about 2 hours north of L.A. and was the perfect setting for the film.

Everybody was a blast to work with. I'm so proud to be a part of this film. We all had a blast!!
We trained today for 5 hours in military tactics from some extremely skilled military tacticians. i.e. how to properly advance and retreat in a hostile environment, clear rooms, clear hallway, etc. We also learned the proper military formations and terminology used in all of the above scenarios.
The producer and director are working right now on the permits to film in an abandoned town 3 hours north of Los Angeles. Hopefully things work out for that location. If not, there are some back ups that sound equally incredible.
I can't wait to film with everyone. It is going to be a ton of fun lighting the fields up with these crazy bastards!!
Until then I will be researching more into the military tactics and language we've already learned and fine tune my German accent.
We are team 5 recon in a United Nations group in an American civil war.
I am really looking forward to exploring and bringing this character to life. It's a role I can really sink my teeth into and have a blast with. What a WILD ride!!!

For weeks before the night came I drilled the lines for this play three and four times a day. It is a total of about one hour and twenty minutes worth of dialogue between Drew (Me) and Terry (Aaron McPherson). The first act is 40 minutes of heavy dialogue and the third act is another 40 minutes of even heavier dialogue all between the two brothers and no one else. It is one of THE most punctuation heavy, dialogue heavy, and word specific dependant plays I have ever worked on. Which is one of the reasons this performance freaked me out, excited me, and inspired me all at the same time. It was a wild feeling.

With only four rehearsals under my belt three with Aaron and one with Aaron and Larry Moss the night came. The crowd was in, the lights went down, I brought that wheelchair out on stage, sat in it, and thought to myself "This is it! Time to strap myself into this shit and see where this roller coaster goes. Holy shit!". The lights came up and we were off and running. Performing that night felt like I surfed a tsunami. It was amazing! I wouldn't have changed a thing. It was so rewarding to leave all of the work that I put into it on that stage that night. It was a huge reinforcement to support the trust I have in my technique.
About the show:
Producer Ronnie Marmo and Theatre 68 are proud to present DROP DEAD! - By playwrights Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore - Opening June 6th at The NoHo Arts Center. This will be the 29th anniversary of the original production, and 23 years since the Los Angeles production originally opened. Marmo and Theatre 68 are elated to be granted the rights for this show for the first time since its original premiere. Landing Van Zandt as the director was the icing on the cake.

A cast of desperate actors attempt to revive their careers in Drop Dead!, a potboiler murder mystery directed by "Wonder Child of the Broadway Stage" Victor Le Pewe. When several actors are murdered during the opening night performance, the remaining thespians must save the show and their careers, solve the mystery, and stay alive long enough to receive their curtain calls.

Originally produced in 1986 Off-Broadway and then in Los Angeles (1991), starring Adrienne Barbeau, Rose Marie, Donny Most, Craig Bierko, Barney Martin, and the authors. It was a smashing success and a hysterical farce, playing to sold out houses.
This time around I performed a little over 25 minutes of the final scene of Neil Labutes' play "In a Dark Dark House" with my scene partner Aaron McPherson.

The biggest challenge for me this time around on top of tackling Neil LaBute was juggling the work that needed to go into this play (which is a beast! Some of the hardest dialogue I've ever had to learn.), but also developing my character for the play "Drop Dead", working full time rehearsals, and building the set for the show. It was definitely a juggling act like no other I've had. With some stress and a shit ton of coffee I think I pulled it off.

I can't believe how much I learn about myself and my technique every time I attend this class. I can really feel the refinement of everything I already know and the application of everything I am learning. I can't wait to see what happens the next time around.
If that sounds a bit confusing it's not that bad. The story is a play within a play where what can go wrong in the theater world does go wrong. My character is a 40 to 50 year old washed up actor trying to make his big comeback playing a posh British character in a play not even worthy of an off off broadway opening. It is going to be a ton of fun, and really funny!! I get to grey out my hair and add some facial hair to really polish off the older look. I'll post pics as they come in.

The rest of the cast include:
Cy Creamer
Claudine Claudio
Bill Doherty Jr.
Shelly Hacco
Eddie Liu
Mews Small
Timothy Alonzo
Barry Brisco
Mark Vazquez
Grey Rodriguez

Show runs June 6th to June 28th. Four shows a week Thursday through Sunday. Thursday through Saturday are 8 o'clock shows with 3 o'clock Sunday matinee's.

Here is the press release used to promote the show:

Man, what an awesome experience. Once again! I am absolutely in love with this class. I've learned more in the past two seasons than I have in such a long time combined. Every time I walk out of here I feel more and more inspired, ambitious, and empowered. I learn so much and meet such great and talented people. I am very grateful to be a part of this.

Every time I am designing a poster for a film I have written down the dimensions for it somewhere and the font used to do the credits with and I lose the info. All the time!!! So here it is:

The two most common used movie poster sizes are:

27 x 40 (Seems to be more practical for indie films)

40 x 60 (Full size movie theater size)

And the font used for the credits is:

Steel Tongs Font - Download Steeltongs Font Here

Here is the key chart for the Steeltongs font. The zip file also has a printable description of how to work the keys for it.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1429098134746917104.post-73304562066071176652013-06-23T23:59:00.000-07:002014-03-14T16:06:48.164-07:00"Meat and Potatoes" wraps shootingI wrapped up my supporting role as Bob the prison guard in the short film "Meat and Potatoes" written by Michael Kofsky and Andrea Chamberlin. This film was shot at the Lincoln Heights Jail which is notoriously haunted. That in itself was a great experience. Especially when the sun went down and the only visible light in the whole abandoned jail was coming from the set lights.
Working with these guys was a great experience. It was really cool to be on set with Mike, Andrea, and all of the other guys I've worked with in the east, now on the west coast.
